FoxFi is an Android app that allows you to share your phone's internet connection with other devices without the need for root access. It offers two different methods for tethering: WiFi Direct and WiFi Hotspot. The WiFi Direct feature allows you to connect computers or tablets to your phone's WiFi mode, but it requires you to install PdaNet on the connected devices or set up proxy settings. On the other hand, the legacy WiFi Hotspot feature is available for older versions of Android and works with a wider range of devices.
However, it's important to note that some Android phone models and carriers may have restrictions on the WiFi mode, and you may be prompted to install a certificate on your phone, which will enforce a screen lock and show a security message. The free edition of the app has a timed usage limit, but you can turn it back on.
