WaveUp is an app that wakes up your phone by waving over the proximity sensor. It eliminates the need to press the power button just to take a look at the watch. The app offers wave mode and pocket mode, both of which are enabled by default. Wave mode turns on the screen when you wave your hand over the proximity sensor, while pocket mode turns on the screen when you take your phone out of your pocket or purse. The app also has a feature that locks the phone and turns off the screen by covering the proximity sensor for one second. However, this feature is not enabled by default. WaveUp is an open-source app and uses the Device Administrator permission for uninstallation. It does not work well on smartphones with wake lock issues. The app requires several Android permissions including WAKE_LOCK, USES_POLICY_FORCE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, and READ_PHONE_STATE. WaveUp is the first app developed by the creator and offers opportunities for translation and contributions.
