Immuni is the official exposure notification app developed by the Italian government. The app aims to notify users at risk of carrying COVID-19, even when asymptomatic, so they can self-isolate and minimize the spread of the virus. The app also serves as an access point for the EU Digital COVID Certificate, which provides proof of vaccination, negative test results, or recovery from COVID-19. Immuni uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology to identify contact between users without collecting any personal data or geolocation information. The app prioritizes user privacy by encrypting data and deleting it when no longer relevant. Immuni is not a medical device, but it provides recommendations based on exposure history. Using the app is optional, but it is encouraged to increase its overall effectiveness in fighting the epidemic.
